IPAF Webinar - Sharing Success Stories: How IPAF Enhances Safety and Business in the MCWP and Hoist Sector

This webinar hosted guest speakers from the hoist and mast climbing industry and be conducted in a relaxed discussion style format. Guests shared their business stories, challenges faced, how they overcame them, and highlight how membership of IPAF has been pivotal to the success of their business operations. Topics included IPAF’s Rental+ certification scheme, safety guidance and technical advice and how being part of a global community of the powered access industry helps ensure good practice and sustainability. 

The latest IPAF training courses, Hoist Installer and Advanced Installer, launched in June 2024, will also be introduced; these courses are the first of their kind and are a culmination of two years of collaboration between IPAF and its working group members and experts in the  UK CPA-Construction Hoist Interest Group.

John Joe Magee

John Joe began his career in the fitout industry after earning his engineering degree from Ulster University in Belfast. He transitioned into the powered access industry in 2017 as an engineer for Rockcastle Management Ltd, formerly known as AER Access. 

John Joe started at Rockcastle as a temporary works designer, progressively expanding his role to encompass various on-site activities. His contributions have ranged from performing installations to developing processes for the thorough examination and maintenance departments. 

Recently, he achieved a significant milestone by becoming Ireland's first MCWP & Hoist instructor. He also established a training centre that serves both Ireland and Northern Ireland, furthering his commitment to advancing industry standards and education across the island.
Kirsty Archbold-Laming

Kirsty has over 30 years experience at the helm of a successful UK rental company.  

She has seen the amazing transformation of not just technology and standards but also huge growth in the specialist suppliers of the construction industry.   

As a large fleet operator of construction hoists and transport platforms, she has been able to develop standards, regulations and training through many forums, and is always on hand for advice to all involved, even competitors. 

While carrying out the day-job she also enjoys working with manufacturers on designs for the market and other associations to develop health and safety for a better environment. 
Jose Antonio Guillén Sierra

Jose Antonio has been involved in the Scaffolding and Mast Climber business for more than 20 years. He has a solid experience in the Manufacturing and rental business working in different positions for leading Spanish Company, RESA GROUP. 

Since 2009 he has supported the internationalization process of the Company now having presence in 8 countries, he is an active Board Member in EURO RESA (Spain), EURORESA GIBRALTAR, RESA GULF SCAFFOLDING (KSA) and RESA PRIME SERVICES (Qatar) also enjoying the interaction with clients and distributors in international markets where RESA has been supplying products and services for more than 40 years.  
Romina Vanzi

Romina supervises and coordinates IPAF’s operations internationally mainly for non-English speaking countries, including development of new regions.  

With IPAF since 2006, Romina covered various positions from Spanish Country Representative to Area Manager for Latin Countries.  

Before joining IPAF, Romina gained over five years' experience in the mast climbing work platform (MCWP) sector, most recently as export manager for Spanish manufacturer Elevadores Goian, and before that as export manager for Electroelsa in Italy.
