Working at Height award winners

North America’s access and rental industry celebrated its finest on the evening of 20 November, with six winners receiving top honours at the inaugural Working at Height Conference & Awards.

  • Judges for the International Awards for Powered Access (IAPAs) 2023 have been confirmed. Comprising five long-standing access experts, with a wealth of knowledge across the sector, the independent panel will assess entries across the 12 categories.

  • An agreement between IPAF and a local chapter of the National Safety Council of India will see the two organisations work together in the state of Kerala to spread awareness about key risks and mitigations when working at height.

  • Workers and managers using MEWPs to install and remove seasonal decorations and lights are being urged to download a comprehensive new technical guidance booklet that can help to avoid safety issues and to mitigate the key risks involved.

  • IPAF is to offer a free webinar aimed at re-establishing full confidence in the safety of MCWPs as a means to offer work at height solutions on all construction-project façade works, following a UK HSE MCWP safety alert that was issued back in May this year.

  • Representatives of IPAF have paid tribute to “dear friend” Cliff Goring of Alimak, a Senior IPAF Instructor and CAP assessor, who has died following a short illness.

  • Understanding and reducing carbon footprint, social inclusion across the workforce, reducing and reusing resources as part of the circular economy are key to effecting sustainable change, according to speakers at IPAF’s Europlatform 2022 conference.

  • Attendees at the recent ALH Conference have been urged to adopt the ANSI suite of standards related to the design, safe-use and training of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) in the US ahead of them being adopted into law by OSHA.

  • Representatives of IPAF at the Association of Professional Foresters (APF) Show in Warwickshire, 22-24 September 2022, have launched an updated leaflet entitled Safe Use of MEWPs to Manage Trees and Vegetation.

  • Members and non-members who log data to IPAF’s accident reporting portal are now able to access improved dashboard functions that allow them to track their safety statistics against the wider industry, following work to enhance and updated the portal’s user interface.

  • “Can falls ever be eradicated?” is the provocative coverline of the 2022 edition of Elevating Safety, IPAF’s annual industry magazine dedicated to promoting powered access safety in North America, which is out now in print and online.

  • The IPAF Asia Conference & Showcase event made a successful return on 28-29 July at the Singapore EXPO & Hilton Orchard Singapore – with more than 250 physical attendees joining the first in-person edition of the event since the pandemic.

  • IPAF will be exhibiting at Stand 540 and looks forward to welcoming everyone who wants to know more about safety in the use of powered access platforms at height.

  • Operators can now benefit from quality ISO-certified MEWP training in Estonia and Latvia, which join Lithuania in being able to offer courses developed by IPAF via Ramirent, which now has IPAF-certified training centres across the Baltic countries.

  • MEWP rental markets continued to recover strongly after the pandemic in 2021 and early 2022, despite clouds on the horizon caused by global uncertainty, according to the latest IPAF Global Powered Access Rental Market Report, compiled by Ducker.
