In 2022, IPAF President Karin Nars launched the 'Women in Powered Access' initiative, inviting women of all ages and different professional roles to share their stories of inclusivity. The initiative includes a number of key actions, including providing a platform to tell the stories of women in powered access in both the media and at industry events. IPAF will also use its own print, web and social media platforms to share these inspirational case studies and will also continue to invite prominent women speakers to present at IPAF events. IPAF will share a series of case studies at www.ipaf.org/casestudy to communicate the opportunities our industry offers women.

How did you come into this industry and what attracted you to it? After 10 years in the hospitality and event industry as a manager, I was looking for a new challenge. This shift from the hospitality industry to the safety and training world offered me the opportunity to apply my skills in a new way and help others develop a safe and efficient working environment. Working in a 'man's world' has always suited me, I appreciate the direct, no-nonsense approach. This makes me feel perfectly at home within Collé Rental & Sales - Safety & Training.

What do you find inspiring about your role? Making people aware of a safe industry and society; through the right training we can contribute to making sure people can return to their families safely at the end of their working day. Also, I hope we can show other women that you can also be valued and valuable within this male world of (big) machines.

At my office, I make sure the trainers have the right files, support them where necessary and provide customers with the right certificates and certifications. From this spring, I get to take on the role of planner, a crucial role in coordinating and planning training and instruction. I will be responsible for managing the schedules of trainers and trainees, ensuring that all training sessions run smoothly and meet the required standards. This includes organising training venues, preparing schedules and communicating with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure everyone is aware of the schedule and any changes. It's a job that I approach with great enthusiasm, and I can put my experience to good use here.

Where do you see yourself in five years and what do you want to achieve? We have a vision for the future and will continue to develop and grow Collé Safety & Training. My personal aim is to deepen my knowledge and make a valuable contribution to the growth of the company. I don't dare say whether I will still be sitting in the planner's chair in five years' time; you must keep growing personally as well. Regardless of the specific direction my career takes, I hope to still be a valued team member of Collé Safety & Training in five years' time.

What one piece of advice would you give to other women in/thinking of entering the industry? Do it! Don't be afraid but confident and work with pride in this man's world! Be confident that your skills, knowledge and experience are valuable and rise to challenges.
