IPAF Webinar: The Importance of Planning for Safe Operations
An exclusive webinar for IPAF Safety Professional members
Many people are familiar with the words of Benjamin Franklin, ‘If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail!’ While it can seem obvious that planning is necessary to ensure safety and efficiency, many incidents still occur because of a lack of planning, not planning properly, not reviewing and modifying a plan where necessary, or not communicating it effectively to the right people at the right time. Unfortunately, hindsight doesn’t save lives or prevent injury, but foresight can. This webinar will focus on your planning responsibilities, how best to approach a new plan, who should be involved, what should be covered, how to identify hazards and reduce risks, how to communicate and record your plan and when to modify and redistribute it.
Employers look to their safety professionals to have all of this in place from legal, technical, ethical and safety standpoints. ‘To err is human’ are the words of Alexander Pope, but competent safety professionals get savvy, stay updated and are committed to ongoing learning in an ever-changing industry.
