Where can I train?
IPAF itself does not provide training. Training is provided by over 900 IPAF IPAF Approved Training Centres in 60 countries and regions. Each training centre is regularly audited by IPAF to ensure the highest standard of training is delivered. IPAF’s MEWP Operator Training Course allows you to take the theory element of your training remotely via eLearning, or in-person, prior to your practical training and test. IPAF’s MEWPs for Managers Training Course can be completed either in-person at a Training Centre, or entirely remotely, by eLearning. Ask your IPAF Approved Training Centre for eLearning options when booking.

What is eLearning?
IPAF's eLearning provides a flexible and enhanced online learning experience for mobile elevating work platform (MEWP) operators, MEWPs for Managers and MEWP Supervisor (North America only) training courses. It provides the same high-quality theory training as in-person in a classroom and can be completed on a range of devices anytime, anywhere, at your own pace.

How long does IPAF training take?
Depending on the training, courses generally last one to two days and are a mixture of theory (unless eLearning has been completed beforehand) and practical with a written and a practical test. See individual courses for more details.
Do I get a PAL Card?
The majority of IPAF MEWP, MCWP and Construction Hoist courses, if passed, will qualify you for a Powered Access Licence (PAL Card), which is globally recognised and proof that you have been trained to the highest standard. Your PAL Card lasts for five years (dependent on your country/region regulations).
All PAL Cards are issued digitally and accessed via ePAL, IPAF’s free mobile phone app. (Printed PAL Cards are available if required.)
